A camel ride in Marrakech is a 1-hour guided trek through the Palmeraie — a vast palm grove just 20 minutes from the city centre. You're fitted in traditional Saharan blue robes and a headscarf, mount your camel, and ride through palm-lined paths past Berber villages. Midway, stop for mint tea and crepes under the shade of the trees. Camels are gentle, well-trained, and suitable for all ages — children under 12 ride with an adult. €25/person, hotel pickup included, daily morning and sunset sessions. Our most popular family activity.

Tour Highlights
Gentle, Well-Trained Camels — No Experience Needed
Our camels are calm, friendly, and used to riders of all ages. The pace is a gentle sway — relaxing once you settle in. Your guide walks alongside the caravan and handles all mounting and dismounting. First-timers love it.
EasyTraditional Saharan Blue Robes — Photo-Perfect
Before mounting, you're dressed in traditional blue Saharan robes and a headscarf — the look of the Tuareg desert nomads. Against the green palms and golden light, it makes for some of the most memorable photos of your trip. Your guide takes photos for you throughout.
PhotosThe Palmeraie — 13,000 Hectares of Ancient Palm Grove
Marrakech's Palmeraie dates back to the Almoravid dynasty (11th–12th century). Over 100,000 palm trees, orange groves, and traditional Berber villages. It's the city's green lung — and from the back of a camel, it feels like stepping back in time.
HeritageMint Tea in a Berber Village — Cultural Immersion
Midway through the ride, dismount and sit under the palms at a traditional Berber home. Your host pours freshly brewed mint tea and serves homemade crepes (msemen). It's a moment of stillness — and a window into everyday life in the palm grove.
CultureSunset Sessions — Golden-Hour Magic
The sunset session is when the Palmeraie comes alive — golden light filtering through the palm fronds, long shadows across the sandy paths, and the sky turning from amber to pink. If you have the choice, sunset is the photographer's pick.
TipPerfect for Families — Our Most Popular Kids' Activity
All ages welcome. Children under 12 ride with an adult on the same camel — they love it. The pace is gentle, the camels are patient, and the traditional dress-up makes it feel like an adventure. Our guides are great with kids.

How the Day Unfolds
Because it's private, every stop is adjustable. All days open — click any header to collapse.
Your driver collects you from your Marrakech hotel or riad. A comfortable 20-minute drive north through the city to the Palmeraie palm grove. If your accommodation isn't car-accessible (some riads), we arrange a nearby meeting point.
At the Palmeraie base, you're fitted in traditional Saharan blue robes (gandora) and a headscarf (cheich) — the iconic look of the Tuareg desert nomads. Your guide helps with the wrapping. Photos before mounting are a must.
Your guide introduces you to your camel. They kneel for mounting — step into the saddle and hold on as they rise (front legs first, then back). It's a gentle lurch, and everyone laughs the first time. Your guide is right there.
Your guide leads the caravan along shaded paths through the palm grove. The rhythm of the camel's gait is gentle and hypnotic — most people relax into it within minutes. You'll pass clusters of date palms, orange trees, and open desert clearings. Your guide stops at scenic points for photos and videos — using your phone to capture the moments.
Midway, dismount at a traditional Berber village home. Sit under the palms and enjoy freshly brewed Moroccan mint tea and homemade crepes (msemen). Your host shares stories about life in the Palmeraie, Berber customs, and the camels. A peaceful, unhurried moment.
Mount up for the return ride along a different route — more open terrain, wider views, and if it's the sunset session, the golden-hour light through the palm fronds. Your guide may encourage the camels to trot briefly — always with warning and always optional.
Your driver takes you back to your hotel in Marrakech — about 20 minutes. Total experience: approximately 2 hours. Back in time for lunch (morning session) or dinner (sunset session).

"We decided to try this out on a whim, and it turned out to be an absolute blast. They pick you up right from your hotel and get you all dressed up in a blue shirt and headwrap — trust me, it's pretty amusing. The camel ride lasts about an hour and for the price of €25, this experience is an absolute steal."

"We went for the sunset session and it was magical. The golden light through the palm trees was stunning — our guide Hassan took some incredible photos for us. The tea in the Berber village was a lovely touch. Surprisingly serene experience, and probably the most welcoming people we met in Marrakech."
