This is a fully private 3-day return desert tour from Marrakech to Merzouga — you travel in your own air-conditioned 4×4 with a dedicated driver-guide who adapts the pace to suit you. Day 1 crosses the High Atlas via Tizi n'Tichka (2,260 m), visits UNESCO-listed Aït Ben Haddou, and reaches the Dades Valley for an overnight in a traditional guesthouse. Day 2 passes through Todra Gorge and arrives at Erg Chebbi for a sunset camel trek into a luxury desert camp with ensuite tent and hot shower. Day 3 returns via Ouarzazate and the Atlas, arriving back in Marrakech by evening. Because it's private, you choose when to stop, how long to linger, and which detours to take. Two nights half-board, camel trek, private vehicle and all fuel included. From €195 per person (based on 14–17 travellers).

Day by Day
This is the standard route — but because it's your private tour, every stop is adjustable. All days open — click any header to collapse.
Your driver-guide collects you directly from your Marrakech riad or hotel — no group assembly point, no waiting for other pickups. The road climbs southeast into the High Atlas Mountains, winding through terraced Berber villages, almond groves, and red-earth hillsides. Because the vehicle is yours, your driver stops wherever catches your eye — a panoramic bend, a hillside cooperative, or a quiet roadside café. The road crests at the Tizi n'Tichka Pass (2,260 metres), Morocco's highest paved crossing, where the view stretches across the entire southern horizon.
Descend to the iconic ksar of Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site — backdrop for Gladiator, Game of Thrones, and Lawrence of Arabia. On a private tour you choose your timing: arrive before or after the midday crowds, walk the earthen alleyways at your own speed, and climb to the hilltop granary for sweeping views of the Ounila Valley. Lunch nearby at a local restaurant with views of the ksar.
Continue via Ouarzazate — the Hollywood of Africa — and onward into the Valley of Roses (fragrant with blooms in April and May). The landscape transforms as you enter the Dades Valley: red rock towers, winding roads through narrow gorges, and the dramatic Monkey Fingers formations. Arrive at your hand-picked guesthouse or boutique riad by late afternoon for a warm traditional Moroccan dinner on the terrace.
After breakfast, drive deeper into the Dades Gorges with stops at the famous Tissadrine switchbacks. Continue to Todra Gorge, where sheer limestone walls rise 300 metres from a flat, walkable riverbed. On a private tour, you have time to linger — walk the full length of the canyon floor, photograph the changing light, or sit with a mint tea at the small café nestled between the cliffs. No schedule to keep except your own.
Continue southeast as the green oases give way to stony plateau. Pass through Erfoud, famous for its fossil workshops, and Rissani, the historic caravan town at the edge of the Sahara. Your driver can stop at a fossil workshop or at Rissani's souk if it's a market day — decisions that are yours alone. By mid-afternoon, the golden waves of Erg Chebbi rise on the horizon — towering dunes up to 150 metres high.
Mount your camel at the edge of the dunes and ride into the Erg Chebbi Sahara as the sun drops toward the horizon. The light turns golden, then amber, then rose. Arrive at your luxury desert camp — a private ensuite tent with real beds, hot shower, quality linens, and electricity. A hearty Moroccan dinner under the stars, followed by Berber drumming around the campfire and some of the clearest night skies you'll ever see.
Wake before dawn and step outside your tent — or climb a nearby dune — to watch the sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes. The shift from deep blue to gold across the sand is one of those moments that stays with you. After breakfast at camp, return by camel or 4×4 to the edge of the dunes. Because it's private, there's no rush — linger over coffee if you'd rather watch the morning light a little longer.
The return passes through Ouarzazate, with time for lunch and optional visits to the Atlas Film Studios or Taourirt Kasbah. Your driver can add any stop you missed on Day 1. The afternoon climb back into the High Atlas via Tizi n'Tichka offers completely different light from the morning crossing — long shadows, warm tones, a perspective that makes the descent feel like a different road entirely.
Arrive back in Marrakech between 18:00 and 19:00. Your driver drops you directly at your riad door — no transfer, no taxi, no last-mile hassle. Three days: the High Atlas twice in different light, a UNESCO ksar, two gorges, a sunset camel ride into the Sahara, a luxury night under the stars, and every stop chosen by you.

"Everything was fantastically arranged. Our driver Abdeul took care of us for 3 days — the luxury camp in the Sahara was beyond our expectations. Having our own vehicle meant we could stop for photos whenever we wanted. The sunset camel trek and campfire music — unforgettable."
"We booked the private 3-day tour for our family of four including two kids under 10. Abdul adapted the pace to suit the children, found playgrounds near lunch stops, and shortened the camel ride for our youngest. The camp was incredible and the kids are still talking about sleeping in the desert."
"I'm a photographer and a private tour was the only option that made sense — I needed to be at Aït Ben Haddou in late afternoon light and at the dunes for sunrise, both of which a group schedule would have missed. My driver knew exactly which viewpoints worked. Professional service, stunning route."
"This was our honeymoon highlight. The private camp dinner under the stars, the silence of the desert at night, waking up to sunrise over the dunes — it was everything we'd hoped for. And the flexibility to stop at Todra Gorge longer than planned was only possible because the tour was private."
