The Ouzoud Waterfalls day trip from Marrakech is the most popular excursion outside the city — and at €19/person, it's also one of the best-value day trips in Morocco. A shared AC minibus departs daily at 08:30 from your Marrakech hotel. Three hours through olive groves and the Tadla plains bring you to the Cascades d'Ouzoud — 110 metres of cascading water, North Africa's tallest waterfalls. Explore the trails, spot Barbary macaques, swim in the natural pools, take an optional boat ride, and lunch riverside with the falls as your backdrop. Back in Marrakech by 19:00–20:00.

How the Day Unfolds
Because it's private, every stop is adjustable. All days open — click any header to collapse.
Your driver picks you up from your Marrakech hotel or the nearest accessible point to your riad. Board a modern AC minibus (max 17 passengers) and head northeast out of Marrakech. The route passes through the Tadla plains — vast fields of olive trees, peach orchards, and agricultural land stretching toward the Middle Atlas foothills.
Arrive at the village of Tanaghmeilt, in the province of Azilal. From here, you can meet an optional local guide (€3/person) who will walk you down the trails to the falls, explaining the geology, the vegetation, and the wildlife along the way. Or explore independently — the paths are well-marked.
Walk downhill along shaded paths through olive groves and fig trees to multiple viewpoints overlooking the 110-metre Cascades d'Ouzoud. The mist from the falls creates permanent rainbows when the sun hits — keep your camera ready. Along the way, spot Barbary macaques lounging in the trees and hopping along the rocks.
At the base of the falls, natural pools invite a refreshing swim (water is cool year-round). Take an optional boat ride (~20 MAD) on the El Abid River, gliding right under the spray of the cascades — exhilarating and guaranteed to get you wet. Locals also offer cliff-jumping for the brave.
Riverside cafés line the banks below the falls, serving traditional Berber tagines, grilled meats, Moroccan salads, and fresh mint tea — all with the thundering sound of the cascades as your soundtrack. Budget around 80–120 MAD for a meal. Or bring your own picnic and find a quiet spot by the water.
Meet your driver at the village car park. Board the minibus for the 3-hour return drive to Marrakech. A comfort stop is made along the way.
Drop-off at your Marrakech hotel or the nearest accessible point to your riad. Arrival time varies depending on traffic and season — expect to be back between 19:00 and 20:00. The perfect day out of the city.

"Best €19 I spent in Morocco. The waterfalls are absolutely stunning — way bigger than I expected. The boat ride under the spray was a highlight, and the monkeys were everywhere. Driver was punctual and the minibus was comfortable. A must-do day trip."
"We met a lovely couple from Australia on the minibus and spent the whole day exploring together. The falls are breathtaking — three tiers of water, rainbows in the mist, and the cutest monkeys. Lunch by the river was delicious. €19 is a steal."
"Perfect escape from the Marrakech heat. The drive through the olive groves was beautiful, and the waterfalls were spectacular. We swam in the natural pools, took the boat ride, and had tagine by the river. Our driver Hassan was great. Highly recommend."
"Took the shared tour as a family — our kids loved the monkeys and the swimming. The falls are massive and the scenery is gorgeous. Good value, well-organised, and the driver made sure everyone was comfortable. We'd do it again."
