Morning pickup from your Marrakech hotel. A scenic ~1-hour drive through the foothills to Imlil (1,740m) in Toubkal National Park. Meet your licensed mountain guide and the mule team.
Head east through cherry, walnut, and apple orchards — the Imlil Valley at its most picturesque. The trail climbs gently to the Tizi N'Tamaterte pass with views back over the Imnane Valley and its Berber villages scattered across the slopes. Continue for another hour through Wanskra and along the river to Tacheddirt.
Tacheddirt village guesthouse (~2,300m) — a traditional Berber village nestled in a high valley with views of snow-capped peaks. Simple rooms, warm blankets, home-cooked dinner. The silence is absolute.
After breakfast, climb steeply southeast to the trek's highest point — Tizi N'Tacheddirt (~3,000m). The views open up dramatically: the High Atlas range stretched across the horizon, snow-capped peaks in every direction, and the valleys you'll descend into spreading below.
A 2-hour descent down a rocky pass to Laabbassen village — a quiet Berber community where fresh mountain air and complete silence are the only sounds. Picnic lunch here. Then continue northeast, down the valley to Timichi village.
Timichi village guesthouse — dinner and overnight in a Berber family home. Tomorrow you enter the Ourika Valley.
After breakfast, begin the final day's eastward walk — a gentle descent through a string of Ourika Valley Berber villages. Pass through Tiourdiou, Anfli, and Tadrart — each village a small cluster of stone and clay houses along the riverbank. Children wave from doorways. Women wash clothes in the river. It's a snapshot of rural Atlas life that hasn't changed in centuries.
Continue past Agadir N'Ait Boulmane to Setti Fadma — the famous village at the end of the Ourika Valley, known for its waterfalls and riverside cafés. Lunch here. Spend some time exploring before your driver takes you back to Marrakech — arriving early evening. Trek complete.

"We chose this trek because we didn't want the altitude pressure of Toubkal but still wanted a real Atlas experience. It delivered completely. Walking through the cherry orchards above Imlil, crossing the pass with Atlas views, and spending the night in Tacheddirt — it felt like we had the mountains to ourselves."
"Perfect trek for our family — our kids (11 and 13) managed every day comfortably. The guide kept a great pace, the village guesthouses were simple but charming, and finishing in the Ourika Valley at Setti Fadma was a wonderful way to end. Highly recommend for families who want more than a day trip."
"Day 2 over the Tizi N'Tacheddirt pass was the highlight — standing at the top with the entire High Atlas spread out before us. The descent to Laabbassen was stunning. And then Day 3 walking through the Ourika Valley villages felt like stepping back in time. A perfect 3-day escape from Marrakech."
"I was worried about altitude sickness so chose this trek instead of Toubkal — best decision. The route never goes above 3,000m and I felt comfortable the entire time. The food in the village guesthouses was incredible — fresh tagine, homemade bread, endless mint tea. The guide made the whole experience seamless."
"We did this trek in January and it was beautiful — cold mornings but clear skies and snow on the peaks above. The villages were quiet and peaceful. Tacheddirt was magical at night — absolute silence under a sky full of stars. So glad we chose the year-round option instead of waiting for summer."
