Day by Day
Four days from Casablanca airport to Marrakech — through the cedar forests, across the Sahara, and over the High Atlas. The express desert route.
Your driver meets you at Casablanca Mohamed V Airport (or your hotel). Head southeast immediately, leaving the coast behind and climbing into the Middle Atlas Mountains. Stop at Ifrane — Morocco's "Little Switzerland" — known for its alpine architecture and cooler mountain air.
Continue to the cedar forests of Azrou — ancient trees and the playful Barbary macaques on the roadside. Photo stops in the forest before continuing southeast.
Arrive in Midelt, the agricultural centre between the Middle Atlas and the Sahara. Check into Hotel Taddart — a comfortable hotel with ensuite rooms and AC. Dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, descend through the stunning Ziz Valley — thousands of date palms, fortified kasbahs, and dramatic cliffs. The scenery shifts sharply as the desert approaches. Continue via Erfoud (famous for fossils) to Merzouga.
Mount your camel for a spectacular sunset ride across the Erg Chebbi dunes — the golden light turning amber, then rose. Arrive at your luxury desert camp — a private ensuite tent with real beds, hot shower, quality linens, and electricity. Moroccan dinner under the stars, Berber drumming around the campfire, and crystal-clear night skies.
Wake before dawn for a sunrise camel ride over the dunes. Breakfast at camp. Drive to Rissani — birthplace of Morocco's Alaouite dynasty — and visit the local dates market.
Continue to the Tinghir oasis for a walk along the palm-lined riverbank, then into the dramatic Todra Gorge — 300m limestone cliffs. Lunch at the gorge.
Drive the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs to the Dades Valley. Dinner and overnight at Hotel Babylon.
Drive through the Valley of the Roses and the Skoura oasis. Visit Kasbah Amridil — a restored private museum of Berber architecture. Continue to Ouarzazate.
Visit the iconic Aït Ben Haddou — a UNESCO World Heritage Site and filming location for Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Cross the river with a guide to explore the village. Lunch nearby.
Cross the High Atlas via the Tizi n'Tichka Pass (2,260m). Arrive in Marrakech late afternoon. Drop-off at your hotel or riad — the end of four efficient days from Casablanca to Marrakech through the Sahara.

"Business brought me to Casablanca but I had 4 free days before my return flight from Marrakech. This express Sahara tour was exactly what I needed — efficient, comfortable, and the luxury camp was genuinely impressive. My driver Youssef was superb."
"We'd already visited Fes and Chefchaouen on a previous trip, so the 4-day express route was ideal. Straight to the desert via the cedar forests, then the gorges and Atlas to Marrakech. Every day was a completely different landscape."
"Picked up from Casablanca airport and 48 hours later I was riding a camel at sunset in the Sahara. Four days, three completely different accommodations, and a Marrakech drop-off. Couldn't ask for more efficient use of limited time."
