Day by Day
Three days from Agadir to the deep Sahara and back — via saffron country, the Draa Valley, and the Iriqui dry lake.
Pickup from your Agadir hotel (or airport). Drive east to Taliouine — Morocco's saffron capital. Visit a local cooperative to see the cultivation and processing of the world's most expensive spice. Buy saffron at source.
Continue to Agdez for lunch. Drive south through the Draa Valley — date palms, fortified kasbahs, and Berber villages stretching toward the desert.
Arrive in Zagora late afternoon. Check into Hotel La Fibule — ensuite rooms, AC, pool, garden. Dinner at the hotel.
After breakfast, drive to Tamagroute — home to one of the oldest Quranic libraries in Morocco with manuscripts dating to the 13th century. Visit the nearby pottery workshop famous for its green-glazed ceramics.
Continue to M'Hamid — where the paved road ends and the Sahara begins. Lunch in M'Hamid.
Your Land Cruiser leaves the tarmac and heads off-road into the desert — crossing erg, reg, hammada, and oases. Erg Chigaga dunes emerge on the horizon — far from civilisation, the silence overwhelming.
Wake before dawn for a sunrise camel ride over the Erg Chigaga dunes. Breakfast at camp.
Your Land Cruiser crosses 90km of varied desert — the flat, otherworldly Iriqui dry salt lake and the old Paris-Dakar rally track. Arrive at Foum Zguid, the first village after the desert.
Continue to Taznakht — famous for its Berber carpets and rugs. Lunch in Taznakht. Drive west to Agadir, arriving early evening. Drop-off at your hotel or Al Massira Airport.

Traveller Reviews
"We were on a beach holiday in Agadir and wanted the real Sahara — not a tourist camp. Erg Chigaga delivered. The silence at the camp was extraordinary. The saffron stop in Taliouine was a lovely bonus we hadn't expected."
"Three days from Agadir to the most remote dunes in Morocco — and back. The off-road section from M'Hamid felt like a genuine expedition. Our driver navigated the desert tracks with incredible confidence. Upgraded to the luxury camp — worth every cent."
"The Tamagroute library was fascinating — ancient manuscripts you'd never see on a regular tour. And then the contrast of going off-road into the deep desert two hours later was surreal. Day 3 was long but the Iriqui lakebed was worth it."
"Perfect for our Agadir holiday — three days away from the beach and into the desert. The campfire under the stars at Erg Chigaga with nomad musicians was the highlight of our Morocco trip. Our kids still talk about the camel ride."
