Day by Day
Four days in a complete loop through southern Morocco — east to the Sahara via saffron country and the gorges, west back to Agadir via the Draa Valley. No road repeated.
Pickup from your Agadir hotel (or airport). Drive east to Taroudant — often called "Little Marrakech" for its red-walled medina and lively souks. A quick exploration of the ramparts and artisan quarter.
Continue to Taliouine — Morocco's saffron capital. The route passes through saffron fields and you can visit a local cooperative to see the harvest process and buy saffron at source. Lunch in Taliouine. Continue through Taznakht (famous for Berber carpets) to Ouarzazate.
Continue east to the Dades Valley. Arrive late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Hotel Babylon — ensuite rooms, AC, half-board.
After breakfast, drive to Tinghir for a walk along the palm-lined riverbank, then into the dramatic Todra Gorge — 300m towering limestone cliffs. Lunch at the gorge.
Continue east via Rissani (birthplace of Morocco's Alaouite dynasty) and Erfoud (famous for fossils) to Merzouga.
Mount your camel for a sunset trek across the Erg Chebbi dunes. Arrive at your luxury ensuite camp — private tent with hot shower, real beds, quality linens. Moroccan dinner under the stars, Berber drumming, and crystal-clear night skies.
Wake before dawn for a sunrise camel ride over the Erg Chebbi dunes. Breakfast at camp.
Head southwest to Zagora, then drive the Draa Valley — Morocco's longest river oasis, stretching north toward Agdez. Hundreds of thousands of date palms, fortified kasbahs, and Berber villages. Lunch in Zagora or along the valley.
Arrive at Hara Oasis in Agdez — a boutique guesthouse set in a palm grove with traditional Berber architecture. A peaceful oasis night after two days of desert. Dinner at the guesthouse.
After breakfast at the Hara Oasis, head southwest through the Anti-Atlas to Taznakht — famous for its Berber carpets and rugs woven by the Ouaouzguite tribe. Optional carpet cooperative visit.
Continue west through the mountains to Taroudant. Lunch in the medina.
Drive the final stretch to Agadir. Drop-off at your hotel (or Al Massira Airport) — the end of a complete loop through southern Morocco's most spectacular landscapes.

Traveller Reviews
"We were staying in Agadir and didn't want to waste a day transferring to Marrakech just to do a desert tour. This route was perfect — straight from our hotel through saffron country to the Sahara and back via the Draa Valley. Four incredible days."
"The saffron cooperative in Taliouine was a wonderful surprise — something you'd never see on a Marrakech tour. And the Hara Oasis on Night 3 was magical — a real palm grove guesthouse with the sound of birds. The loop route meant every day was different."
"As a family on a beach holiday in Agadir, this 4-day desert detour was the highlight of our trip. The kids loved the camels and the camp, and we loved that no road was driven twice. Taroudant was a bonus — like a small, authentic Marrakech."
"I specifically chose this over a Marrakech tour because of the unique stops — Taliouine saffron, Taroudant, and the Hara Oasis. The Sahara was the main event, but the supporting cast was just as impressive. Our driver Hassan made it seamless."
